What things should I consider when buying a new video card?

I'm currently in the market for a new video card. Can anyone give me some pointers of things I need to look at when buying a card or possibly suggest a few? I was looking at the Geforce 8800 Ultra. I'm looking to spend from 100-150 dollars on Black Friday. I want to play games like Dragon Age, Starcaft 2 and Diablo 3 on reasonably high settings.

Here is a rundown of my system specs:

Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2 (Planning on getting 7)

2.40 gigahertz Intel Core2 Quad Q6600

4gb Installed RAM (Vista 3gb only recognizes )(Planning on upgrading also)

Nvidia Gefore 8600gt 256mb

My monitor's native resolution is 1920*1080|||My advice is, when looking for nVidia brand cards:

Go with GT named cards, not GS, (i.e. 8800GT, not 8800GS)

Get x600 or x800 types such as 8600, 8800, 9600, 9800 etc.

The 8800GTX/Ultra will give you a slight advantage over the 8800GT however. I would go with a 512 MB or even better, 1 Gig card if possible.

The Geforce 8800 Ultra should give you a significant upgrade over the 8600 you have in your system now.
