I will be starting college in a little less than a month, and this is why I'm buying a laptop. However, I also plan to use this as a desktop replacement--my desktop is old and decrepit. I play Sims 3, MMOs such as Final Fantasy, games like Fallout and Dragon Age, etc... I also do image and video editing (not my major, but a hobby). I want a fast computer with nice graphics. Thank you!|||Honestly, I think you should go with this laptop: http://www.amazon.com/Republic-Gamers-G7鈥?/a>

It is a little bit over the hp's price but I guarantee that you'll find it to be much better. I don't know i you've ever heard of Alienware but this laptop has got the same specs as plus it comes with a free backpack and laser mouse!|||Go with the Toshiba The hp seems to me like it has to many bells and whistles, both have a 5650 inside the only downside is the processor in the Toshiba is an AMD but personally i'd go with the Toshiba.|||The toshiba. Hp's suck.

also this is a good laptop

They have a great customer support and their products last longer than most manufacturers. The specs on the hp is pretty good and it has and ati/amd graphics. This is a fast laptop and yes you can game and edit videos. My asst. manager has this laptop and he loves it. The only downside is the battery life. This is a powerful laptop so expect the battery to last maybe 1-1.5 hrs.You can also check out cnet for review on this laptop and they also have buying guides.I my self build computers as a hobby. But i have two hp netbooks and they are great and reliable. I have an hp desktop which is 12yrs old and still runs great.|||Toshiba...|||This question doesn;t make much sense. You're going to school, so why would you want a gaming machine? That's like a license to get no work done. also, you want a desktop-replacement, so why not get a desktop?
