Why are the rendered cinematics in Mass Effect 2 really low-res?

When I'm playing on my laptop I have the resolution at its highest yet the cinematics look like someone video taped it the original and put it in the game. On my desktop it runs completely clear like in-game. How can i fix this if possible or tell me why.

I'm having the same problem with dragon age too.

specs:

Processor: Intel Core i7 2.67GHz

RAM:8GB

System Type: 64-bit operating system

OS: WIndows 7 Home Premium

Graphics card:Nvidia GeForce GTX 260M|||There are a few prerendered cinematics using in-game graphics from the Xbox 360 and rendered at the low resolution of 1280x720. What you're seeing is what the game looks like on an Xbox 360 which doesn't have the processing power to render high resolution graphics. It's a shame BioWare didn't upgrade the cinematics for PC gamers.

This is only the case with very few cinematics in the beginning of the game on the Normandy. There are other pre-rendered cinematics using more advanced CG, like for instance when you're landing on a planet or space station, and they're also rendered at a low Xbox resolution with film grain turned on.

What's your laptop's max resolution, by the way?|||lower the resolution
