Building a 2010 Gaming Computer V.2, can I get your input?

I am wanting to build a computer that will play Star Wars: The Old Republic, Starcraft 2, Dragon Age, Diablo 3 and World of Warcraft very well. The goal is a high FPS rate, with the graphics as high as they will go.





This is my second question of this nature. I made some modifications due to suggestions/input and now would like to hear what you think. My budget is $1700.

With Intel i5 750 I am sitting at $1640, if I upgrade to Intel i7 860 I will be at $1728.50. Is it worth it?





Anything else you think I should change/substitute?





Is the Sapphire a good choice out of the 5850 cards or would you suggest another?





Is the Corsair a good choice, or would you suggest a different power supply for around the same $?





Again thank you so much for your help. This is a lot of money for me so I want to get this right and have a computer that will last and perform excellently!|||For roughly the same money you would be better off with an Intel Core i5 750 2.66Ghz (Lynnfield)


This will give you i7 type performance. It has the turbo boost feature so clocks up to 3.6Ghz, has 8 Mb cache and a true 4 core with 4 additional for hyper threading. The clarkdale i5 is nowhere as good, it is only a true dual core and also has an on cpu video chip which you will not require as you have chosen the excellent 5850.





Read up on the i5 Lynnfield cpu.|||corsair power supply's are the 2nd best besides seasonics and it will last years. you could get a 500watt power supply and it will suffice, this rig will only take 300-400 watts. are you planning on overclocking it all?|||I would suggest a Cheetah 246GB 15,000 RPM Disk.|||I suggest you get a Dell monitor equipped with DisplayPort instead of that Asus you listed.





Eventually if you will be using ATI's Eyefinity technology on that nice HD5850 video card you are getting, you WILL need at least one DisplayPort-equipped monitor.





Dell has DisplayPort-equipped monitors as cheap as $250.





The guy who told you that you don't need a 750W PSU is absolutely right. Those big PSUs are for running multiple video cards in SLI or Crossfire, which you will NOT be able to do anyway on that P55 motherboard (which supports only one video card). The Corsair 550W PSU with its single 40Amp +12V rail is already WAY more than plenty for your config.
